About Us

Transforming the lives of queer youth

Oasis Youth Center is the only organization responding to the unique needs of queer youth in Pierce and surrounding counties. Oasis empowers youth by providing a safe space for them to gather outside of school hours, offering support from adult role models and mentors, activities with peers and opportunities for personal growth, access to education, information, resources, and support necessary for making meaningful and healthy life choices and developing leadership skills to thrive in their communities.

Oasis transforms the lives of queer and questioning youth by creating a safe place to learn, connect, and thrive.

Oasis envisions a world in which queer youth are valued in the community as strong, creative leaders.

Youth and adults coming together for shared learning, teaching, and action.

Our Story

Oasis was formed in 1985 by a group of concerned community members who wanted to help LGBTQ youth cope with discrimination and find support. Oasis is celebrating nearly four decades of history and we are currently compiling an Oasis History Project to document the many great achievements and milestones witnessed over the years. More than 10,000 youth, staff and volunteers have participated in the program since 1985, and we would like to hear from as many of you as possible. If you are an Oasis alum or past volunteer, share your story with us!
